Graffham Parish News is the parish magazine of St Giles, Graffham and St Peter's, East Lavington, in West Sussex. Its primary purpose is to enable the residents of the two villages to find out what's going on, both at the Church and in the local community, and to disseminate information of their own. The magazine is available for organisations, interest groups and individuals within the villages to publicize their own activities and events. It regularly covers the two Parish Councils representing the villages, and normally includes a report from the village school. You will find details of sports (the Tennis and Bowls Clubs are regular contributors and Cricket fixtures are printed annually) also of arts and social events going on in the Empire Hal.
The magazine aims to cover all the events taking place in Graffham each month and depends on members of the community for this information!
While the magazine is first and foremost a "What's On" for the month, it normally includes one or two articles of general interest every month, on topics such as local history, archaeology or wildlife.
Both through research and in commissioning such articles for the magazine I find I am collecting a store of reference material about Graffham, East Lavington and the area. I have started a Graffham bibliography on the website with cross references to different issues, to our own archives, and to other sources of information with links where appropriate.
I am also building up a Gallery of Graffham photos, some of recent events, some from the archives.
Graffham Parish News is published monthly as an A5 booklet. It is hand-delivered in the village and copies are available at the Church and in the Village Shop.
The website is not intended to replace the magazine itself, nor is it intended to be an up-to-date source of the latest information! It was set up to enable people to view the current issue and back issues online in pdf format.
